Today marks the last day of the long Golden Jubilee long weekend, and Dedicated Locals' Caring Community members took the opportunity to spend their day meaningfully, collaborating with Uncle Ringo and Project Awareness to organize a fun day out for the senior citizens at Pasir Ris.
The 50 Years of Fun Carnival was the selected location, happening at Waterfront Promenade right next to Marina Bay Sands, consisting of fun and games, as well as "getai" where songs were performed.
At around 12.45pm, about 50 residents gathered excitedly at Blk 614 Elias Road's void deck, and the Dedicated Locals' Caring Community members did a quick headcount and registration before everyone boarded the chartered air-conditioned coach to ferry them to the carnival.
The carnival was bustling with excited visitors and families because it was a wonderful to bond with each other. For the children and young adults, the fun rides and games kept them entertained; even the elderly citizens who were watching the kids at play had smiles on their faces. It was a precious moment.
For the elderly citizens, they were also well-entertained with "getai" performance of songs they were familiar with, sung by singers who hailed from Singapore and overseas.
After a day of fun, the citizens enjoyed a delicious meal at 1983 Nanyang Café at MBS, where they chattered merrily about the carnival they'd visited earlier on, many of whom revealing that they have not had so much fun for a long time. At 5.00pm, the citizens once again boarded the huge, cushy coach that brought them safely home by 5.30pm.
It was another successful collaboration with Project Awareness, and Uncle Ringo's, to bring happiness and show concern to a group of citizens and celebrate this National Day together.
